Chop Barricades[]
- The Basic Axe blueprint is given to the player by Copperbottom after rescuing him from a cruel and rusty fate in Helping Copperbottom. Upon arriving back to the Workshop, Copperbottom finds that wooden barricades have been placed around the entryways of the Workshop. This triggers the sub-quest "Chop Barricades."
- The Journal entry for Chop Barricades reads: "Copperbottom has asked me to remove the wooden barricades that have been stacked around the Workshop. He has supplied me with a blueprint to craft an axe so that I can use it to chop all the barricades down."

Trivia[]
- Copperbottom will warn the player to use the Basic Axe responsibly and "not fall under the temptation to chop your fellow citizens. This will void their warranty." This implies that the player can use the Basic Axe to harm the Critters, and effectively end their life. However, any attempts to use the Basic Axe or any other tool on a Critterresults either in nothing happening or the player simply initiating conversation with the Critter.
