A Bottle on the Shore[]
- The blueprint for this quest is acquired through the questline A Bottle on the Shore. Following the completion of building the Workshop, Pokee will approach the player to point out a bottle she has found on the north-northeastern shore of the island just before the arch of stones that the Lighthouse is situated near. She will lead the player to the bottle and tell them that they need a shovel and to ask Anchor. He will then provide the blueprints for the Basic Shovel.
- The Journal entry for A Bottle on the Shore reads: "Pokee has told me, in her own colorful way, that she found something on the beach that I might be interested in. Pokee doesn't seem like the type to waste her time, so maybe I should go see what she found."
- Following that, there is a sub-quest called 'X Marks the Spot'. The Journal entry for this reads: "Anchor gave me a shovel recipe. So I'll need to craft a shovel but once I have that it's back to finding the treasure. I just need to follow the place on the map where X marks the spot and use the shovel to dig anything there up. I wonder what I will find!"

Bugs[]
This tool apparently causes a lot of animation bugs. If you were to use a dumbbell, ride on something, or pretty much do almost anything besides digging with that shovel, will cause your character's animation to glitch out.
