Critter Cove has a massive map filled with a variety of items the player can create, pick up, or interact with. Many can be placed as furniture, others can be consumed for various benefits, and some are requested by critters as part of quests. Selling items to Renard or at their associated Kiosk is one of the primary ways of earning doubloons.
Below is a guide to all the items the game has to offer.
TYPES OF ITEMS[]
Clothes[]
Clothes are items which players can wear to further customize their appearance.
Islanders can request new clothes and will have specific preferences for different styles of clothing. They can be seen wearing the new clothes they like around town.
Food[]
Food can be consumed by players to regain health, energy, and/or stamina. Some food can be found around the world like Drumsticks and Berries, found growing on plants, which will restore a small amount of energy upon consumption. Other foods must be cooked with a Campfire, Cooking Station, or an Oven and will yield greater benefits when eaten.
All food items can be placed as furniture, and most can be sold at an associated kiosk.

Furniture & Workstations[]
Furniture are decorations and functional items that can be placed in the player home or around town. Workstations are used to create new furniture or resources with materials the player has collected.
Islanders can request furniture and will have specific preferences for different styles of furniture. At the moment, they do not do anything with the furniture given to them.
Artifacts[]
Artifacts are items the player finds while exploring, like the Crystal Skull, the Crown, and many more and can be donated to the museum. Their descriptions in-game include "donate to the museum" making them easy to differentiate from other items.
Materials[]
Items like Wood, Stone, or Metal serve as materials for crafting.

WAYS TO ACQUIRE ITEMS[]
As the player rebuilds the town of Critter Cove, they will have to salvage lots of materials from the ocean surrounding the island. There are many types of items, and even more ways to collect them!
Crafting & Cooking[]
The most important items in the game are created from more basic materials via various workstations. Through crafting, the player will repair broken-down machinery, refurbish decaying furniture frames to decorate their home and town, and create food to feed themselves and their community.
In the early game, handcrafting and the engineer's workbench cover most of Critter Cove's needs. As the town grows more sophisticated, more refined equipment is needed to complete more elaborate blueprints and recipes. For example, hardwood can only be made with the solid cutter.
Scrapping[]
Most basic materials are collected from scrap, which are junk and natural resource nodes which need to be dismantled by tools. Different types of nodes require more or less energy to dismantle. Scrap is unique to each location, and replenished following lightning storms.
- Check this map to find specific scrap nodes and materials.
Harvesting[]
Fiber and many types of food are harvested from plants, which can grow wild or in a garden. Wild plants re-grow after lightning storms, much like scrap, while cultivated crops have a unique "grow time" depending on how often they are watered. Currently, gardening is very useful for acquiring the extremely valuable material, resin.

Fishing[]
After speaking to the orange cephalopod, Barnacle, you will be able to use a fishing rod to catch fish from the ocean. Currently, fish can only be eaten, used in recipes, or in certain craftable items.
Questing[]
Whether if it's quests from NPCs or castaways, completing the quests they will give the player a random item and/or dubloons.
- Quest list (pending?)
Exploring/Diving/Sailing[]
If you explore thoroughly, you will find treasure chests that will contain a random item. While out on the water the player may find sinking ships just below the surface which contain crates basic cooking and crafting materials. Sometimes these ships will have treasure chests among the crates that contain a random item.
Shopping[]
The stores around town allows the player to buy things if they are managed by an islander. Currently, clothes, furniture, food, mixed drinks, bait, and some resources can be bought at these stores. Some shopkeepers will sell blueprints when spoken to directly.
Recycling[]
If the player has too many materials on-hand, they can be tossed into the recycler to be broken down into their basic components. If a fruit or vegetable are placed in the recycler, it will produce seeds of that plant.
